Presentation Preparation!!
Wow, presentations are haaard! I'm quite fussy with how they should look so I'm being a bit particular. Not far off completing it now though, though I still need to make notes for what I need to say...
I can't say I'm an avid fan of them, quite the opposite actually. And I doubt I'm the only one. But hey, that's VM for you, and the fashion industry as a whole in fact. Presentations, pitching and ideas need to come thick and fast to keep you at the forefront.
So here's to Thursday... presentation day.

Stumbled across this...
So I was having a Google Images browse (again) and came across this lovely window display, courtesy of Topshop in Oxford Circus, London. It's not the current display, but is so lovely I just had to share!!
It's so engaging and eye-catching, yet so simple. These seem to be the sort of windows I notice and appreciate most. Even the clothes and their colours have been specially selected to fit perfectly with the concept. The different-colour mannequins and lighting props all make the ambience of this window vibrant and dynamic.
Hope you love it as much has me!!

¡Terminado!
Well, here it is, the finished products DONE!
All three window designs done. Check.
Work experience complete. Check.
Work experience report finished. Check.
Phheeew!! Now for the presentation to show it all off!
I checked all my work in my portfolio and it's all on this blog, except for one final thing. Here are the last two finished windows, printed acetate and all...
Window design Number 1 ^^^
Window design Number 3 ^^^
(If you're wondering where window design number 2 is, I posted it a little further back as it was the first one I finished- check it out if you haven't already...
So, I hope y'all like, it's been an experience for sure. And I've learned so much throughout the whole of this project, especially with the work experience I completed. Thinking back, there would be a thing or two I'd do differently regarding these designs, due to what I'd learned about REAL high street window displays, but hey, I can enforce that knowledge next time...
I hope you've enjoyed checking my work out as much as I've enjoyed creating it...

P.S. ¡Terminado! means Finished (en Español)!! In case you were wondering ;)

Report Printed and Bound!!
Ahhh, it feels good to have finally finished the Work Experience report.
I wanted it to be informative and detailed, regarding the jobs i had to do and the overall experience I had. I printed each part as I completed it, and got it ringbound today, and I must say it looks rather professional! I now have to figure out how to add it into my portfolio as it's quite thick and bulky. I'll probably slip it into the portfolio sleeve at the end, and use a headed sheet of A3 paper to help identify what the report is.
Well, after all that, now onto the putting together of the presentation...

Work Experience COMPLETED!
Wow, so the reason I've been a little 'thin on the ground' of late is because last week I had a work placement with Debenhams' VM team, and very informative and educational it was too.
I'm currently writing up a report about it, it's a bit long to post on here really, I'll try and figure out a way to do it?? Hmmm, but yeh, I'm still not sure if it's what I expected it to be or not! It kinda was and kinda wasn't. I'll explain more in the report...
Till next time people...

Wet Windows!!
Hello all, well window display number three is finally finished!! Well, nearly. It just needs some acetate with text on it, but due to it being the Easter hols, the college is not open for printing :( Never mind.
Here... see what you think...
This is the first one out of the two, like I said, it needs acetate to go over it. I wanted the clothes to be placed kinda like in a washing line-type formation. And my sister, bless her, was soaked head to toe for these shots!! She couldn't stop laughing while my Mum and I soaked her!! Running make-up and all!
Here's the second...
This one doesn't have so many clothes, which was intentional actually, I wanted the focus to be more on the backdrop and Bershka sign etc.
The subjects are pretty dark at the top and lighter at the bottom because I looked at the backdrop, where there is a rather nasty-looking dark grey cloud, but the orange at the bottom looks refreshingly bright and sunny. So I went for light at the bottom, gradually fading to dark at the top, with the help of Photoshop of course.
Well, I hope you like them!! I shall post more pics up when they are all completely finished, acetate and all.
Well, until then...

Intriguing concept...
After looking around for interesting window ideas, this jumped right out at me...
Well, the obvious issue are the REAL PEOPLE in the window! Can it be done on a permanent basis? Er, no. But I suppose this idea can be used temporarily as a funky way to 'reveal' a window if it has a big following. No-one would expect it!!
The above window in particular was used to promote the 20th Commonwealth Games in 2014 in Glasgow, Scotland. The people in the window are gymnasts from the Glasgow School of Sport, performing at John Lewis with Olympic gymnast Steve Frew. What a great way to gain momentum for an event. Definitely something to keep in mind when preparing for some sort of 'big reveal'.

Window Number 2's current progress...
Back again all, with a progress report on the external project I'm preparing to hand in on May 10th...
Well, the first two windows are complete, with printed acetate and all, and when showing my lecturer, she suggested I do two more window designs, with two in each, so four more windows in total, in keeping with the a'Tiempo theme.
So, since I saw her I have been printing pics, taking photos and Photoshopping like there's no tomorrow, in order to complete the next two windows...
So what do you think...??
I have yet to print the acetate to go on top, this added text gives an idea of what the window is about so it's pretty important to include.
I wanted it to look quite calm and tranquil, but to still have some 'pow!', hence the lightning bolt in the background. Because there is a hazy, dusky feel to the backdrop, I wanted to incorporate that into the foreground pieces. For this, I decided to slightly shadow and silhouette all the items, to give the feeling of nightfall.
I like the calming ambience of these windows, a slight extreme to the first two I designed! (See previous pictures of these windows.) They were full of movement and energy.
The next two will be rain-inspired windows, this will include a wet-looking backdrop, wet clothes and a wet model!! Thanks, sis ;) Hehe, I owe her bigtime. I shall keep my progress updated on this blog, re. the window designs and the making of them, and anything else I find pretty inspirational and fun.
Right, onto the next two...!!

CCTV at Louis Vuitton...
Wow all, look what I came across whilst browsing for funky, conceptual window displays...
Isn't this incredible?!! How inspirational and imaginative is this! I like the fact that, in today's 'nanny state' type society, Louis Vuitton have incorporated an element of today's culture into their brand. The cameras are so perfectly placed throughout, it must've taken A LOT of prior preparation and thought.
I found a few more of their windows, each with different 'subjects' for the cameras.
Here is one of them...
I like how they seem to be portraying a kind of window 'collection', all with the same concept but with slightly different subjects.
This is quite similar to the windows I am designing, the same a'Tiempo concept but different subjects in each. Very much like a window 'series'.
I'm even more excited to be doing what I am doing now I see designers like Louis Vuitton have a similar idea. I know if I had a particular interest in a brand/designer, and they had a special selection of windows they were revealing, I would want to know about it right away!
Hope y'all like!!
